Create Network of WordPress Sites with WordPress Multisite

If you have a website created with WordPress, you might not know that you can create and manage multiple websites using a single installation of WordPress and managing them from a single control panel. Guide to Use WordPress Multisite

1: Prepare your WordPress Multisite

This feature is especially useful if, for example, want to have different versions of your website or create a network of blogs on different themes WordPress, without creating separate facilities for each.

These websites, although they can be totally different from each other, are managed from a single control panel by an administrator with the task of managing plugins, updates, modifications, optimized, etc.

Before get to work should ensure that you have all necessary tools to enable this feature.

Although it is not complicated to activate this feature, you’ll need to be familiar with some of the basic functions that involve the administration of your website and manage files that compose it.

Since during the process will be necessary to modify some WordPress configuration files that are hosted on the web server, you must have access permissions or administrator passwords needed to manage these files.

These modifications can be made using the programs you use regularly. That is, FTP clients such as Filezilla, file manager Plesk or cPanel, or from the file management options of your server. To make changes to the configuration files you do not need to have knowledge of PHP, CSS or any other programming language because it is limited to copy a particular piece of code in a particular place of WordPress configuration file. 2: Never without a Backup!

As usual, before making any changes in the configuration of WordPress, you need to back up both databases, and content of your website to not take any chances.

To do this, you can use your system regular backup, either one of the hundreds of WordPress plugins dedicated to this purpose, as UpdraftPlus, or performing an export of databases from phpMyAdmin and from the Export option in the Tools menu WordPress. 3: Set the Environment for WordPress Mulitsite Network

To begin the activation you must make sure that WordPress has enabled the right way to establish permanent links.

To check, click the Settings menu and access WordPress Permalinks. Here, mark any existing modes except the default mode, which alone should not be used. When finished, click on Save Changes.

Then go to the Plugins section, check the Plugin box top for all plugins you have installed, click on the Actions drop-down list and select Disable batch are selected.

4: Activate the Multisite WordPress

To activate the multisite feature you need to access and edit the wp-config.php file you will find in the public_html directory on your server. Then save the changes to wp-config.php and updated version of this file on your web server.

Now, back to Desktop WordPress and reload the page in the browser by pressing the F5 key. With this has been activated a new option in the Tools menu called Network Configuration.

5: Enables Network of Sites on WordPress

To join the management of all web pages or blogs in a single control panel, group will require a network of web sites.

To create this network, go to Settings Network Tools menu, the new section you’ve unlocked in the previous section.

6: Add a new site to your WordPress

7: Manage Network Plugins

The main advantage of the multisite is able to manage all resources from a single control panel, which enable or disable plugins or themes that can be used across the network or access the individual control panels for each site to configure the particularities of each one of them.

For example, to install a plugin that will use the entire network of sites, access the panel network administrator and from the Plugins section in this section all plugins installed on your WordPress is.

Find and install the plugin you need as you normally do. If you want this plugin is active throughout your network of sites, click Activate for the network.

If you use one plugin at certain sites, you must not activate it from the Administrator Panel.

You must access the control panel of each of the sites you want to use this plugin and activate it from the Plugins menu each.

8: Each Site with Your Own Theme

The themes of each site WordPress are managed similarly to the plugins.
